i know this is not the nicest topic for a blog, but it is important. I have worked in and around the domestic violence sector for 10 years. If you are or someone you know is affected by domestic violence, you can call the free national helpline on: 0808 2000 247.

The following page from the BBC’s Hitting Home site may also be useful:

You can also check out the Greater London Domestic Violence Project (where i work) at

and please contact me if you need any advice or support,

take care

hi, it is refreshing to know that there is help out there, and like yourself, I refuse to keep domestic violence a taboo subject anymore.
When I suffered, there was no help for me, so thank you for letting victims and survivors know that there is help out there, and that you never have to be afraid. The victims are stronger than the perpetrators will ever be, it is the survivors that need to campaign to get the world on the move about stopping this horrific, and all too common, ‘taboo’ subject.
My ‘ domestic violence survivors blog’ breaks the taboo and speaks out on a harsh reality that people all too often try to hide.
    Thankyou friend, veron x

Hi Jo, I belong to Tania’s Creative Co-op and she gave your blog address. Did you know about Pat Winter’s Comfort Doll project at
It’s been going for a while now and seems to be well received in Australia and USA. I don’t think someone sending me a doll would help me, but then I have never been in that situation. Anyway, thought you might be interested in it.

    Nice blog!
